well u r in a pretty good situation. the reason the coach moved u to center might be to take advantage of your strength and athleticism over other players. if you have a good coach he may have moved another player more suited to play the small forward role. but being in the center position you will be able to use those skills as a small forward. against bigger strong players in the low post area u can use your quickness and agility to out rebound them, so work on your leaping ability and footwork. against smaller post players u will be able to use a lot of strength. so work on condtioning and endurance. build up leg and arm muscle.

dont look as it as a bad thing. but as a chance to improve versatility and a chance to show your coach you are great team player.

Tips for playing center:

Get in good position for rebounds on both offense and defense, and be aggressive in rebounding. EVERY team needs good re-bounders. Also, for someone as short as 6 feet tall playing center, you had better develop a good jump-hook shot for shooting over taller players.

If you want to playcollegeball in the US, I strongly urge you to avoid playing center. I would bet a million pounds that there is not a single team with a 6 foot tall center.

Kevin Durant is the best player in the NCAA
Definitely Durant. Texas isn't really very good, he just makes them look that way. I feel bad for him though, he's only a first half player. His scoring average goes down so much in the second half, he's practically useless when his legs give out from running all those 3's. If he played for a team that could give back just a little he'd be in way better shape. I won't lie, I'm really glad he's going to the NBA because if he gets much better atcollegeball, he's gonna tear everybody up, one-man team or not.

Ok... look at their team... their second best player is Goran Suton... who is that guy? he sucks, he didn't even average 10 ppg... yet Michigan State has gotten to the tournament as a 9 seed and beat Wisconsin AND Texas this year. Drew Neitzel carried this team on his back. He averaged 18 ppg and 4 apg, while shooting an amazing 41% from 3. Without Neitzel they would have missed the tournament, and even been on of the worst Big Ten teams. He has stepped up in big games with a number of times scoring more than 25 and 30 points in games.
you gotta go with one of the top players of the year, Durant or Oden. Sure their teams are good without them, but they are both dominant players whose numbers if missed would cause their teams not to have a chance at contending in the dance. If texas gets to the final four or does better than OSU (I have OSU going all the way), then I'd say Durant is the one.

If you have to ask that means thecollegescouts are not already recruiting you. And that means it won't matter where you go because you're probably not going to make the team as a walk-on except at the smallest Division 3 or NAIA schools. So: if playing at sports is not going to have any career value for you (and even if you were a top prospect this would unfortunately likely be the case,) the best thing to do is start at your local communitycollegebecause it will be dirt cheap and you can maybe get some basic required courses out of the way in a non-threatening environment and then decide if you want to continue toward a 4-year degree. If you just want to play hoops for the fun of it, great. If you can get some good coaching and develop a game maybe you can hook on at some small school somewhere but don't count on doing anything more than that. If you haven't already established yourself as a big-time recruit by the time you're 14 or 15 years old it's just not going to happen. Sorry but that's just the way it is.

It really depends on how good of a high school player you are. If your an exceptional player I would have to say Arizona, North Carolina, Duke, or Kansas (to name a few). If your a good player I would try to stay closer to home, some of the places I would suggest would be Depaul, Illinois, Illinois St., Northwestern, University of Chicago, Loyola, and Butler. If your just above average I would look at schools close to home in the Horizon League -- Valparaiso, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wright State, Detroit, Cleavland State, and Youngstown state. Otherwise I would suggest on attending juniorcollegefor a couple of years, developing your skills and then transferring to one of the above schools your sophomore or junior year.

A lot of this has to do with your ability as a high school athlete and what each school as to offer for you: Scholarships, location, prestige, and each schools individual academic program... the first four all have great basketball teams and academic programs.
Don't choose a school based on the b-ball team. Choose it on the overall quality of education. Check out the Princeton review and pick something in the top 50.

I played in 3rd grade throughout 8th grade and then didnt play in ninth or tenth grade... i love basketball and miss playing.. im planning on training all summer and hoping making varsity next year.. I absolutely love basketball it's been my life. Im a senior now and just finished an awesome season winning the district chamionship. One thing that i regret is never playing other sports that i played as a kid (baseball, football etc.). What I am trying to say is that you should absolutely go out next year and try out for the aau team or you will regret it. It is hard to grab the attention of coaches when you havent played and if skill ability isnt up to par, then your chances of playing varsity andcollegeball are slim. If you are serious about playing in college, whether it is big or small, you need to join an AAU team this summer. Just being on the team is not good enough, you have to be a start or at least first off the bench. The difference between high school ball andcollegeis mind blowing. I tried out for NC State and could have walked on at a smaller school. You have to train like you really want it. Your size has nothing to do with your ability. Look at Spud Webb, he was about your size and he is an NBA All-Star. You need all the exposure you can get and by playing AAU you will get the exposure you need, but only if you are on the court. There are a million little ways to work on improvement and sharpening your skills. Start working on them now. But also, try to find some ways to challenge your skills so you grow from where you are now.

Look for camps like the Coach Wootten camp. The best way to improve is to find someone who is an expert that can critique your weaknesses and give you areas to improve and round out your game. How about asking any former coaches to meet with you for a while?

Do you have any friends who are now playingcollegeball? Followup with them and find out how they transitioned tocollegeball. You need to be aggressive in your pursuit of info just as you must be aggressive on the court.

Admittedly, the Big East currently lacks that one dominant team that can consistently be ranked in the top 5 in the country, but no conference can compare in terms of the number of very good, ranked, NCAA-tournament caliber teams. Plus, the conference is full of teams with great basketball tradition. That doesn't mean that all those teams are going to be good every year, but you can get that a bunch of them will be.

It depends if your family can afford to pay forcollegeand you are receiving scholarship offers from smaller schools. See Michael Jordan's son. He could have gotten full or partial scholarships at some smaller schools, but decided to walk on at Illinois for the competition and atmosphere.

My favorite is the NFL by far. It is the game I prefer the most, with the talent level bar none, parity for the most part, exciting games, and they crown an actual champion at season end. Just look at all the hype between Michigan and Ohio St. this weekend. In pro sports a player would sign with a rival team in a heartbeat for the right amount of money and come on, what's the difference between $9 million and $10 million. If used properly both will last forever.

I left out MLB because I find it boring (160 slow games) and I think they've been on strike a few too many times for my taste. The USA team lost at worlds not because they lacked talent. I think it was :

1) They only really played together for 2 months. They lack experience playing together so their team defense was weak. This was shown in the inability to shut down Greece's pick and roll game.

2) Despite being "built" to compete, there does seem to be a lack of a good outside shooting.

3) USA still plays too much 1 on 1. They need more time to develop an team offense.

This team was already competative (6 pts is not a huge loss).

A few adjustments (add a true shooter) and more team offence and defense practice and this team will be a real favorite, if not *the* favorite.

i've always been wary of single elimination games since a more superior team can have an off night and lose....given the less accurate shooting percentages of the usa team their loss of only 6 points was an indication of their superior talent...they were outshot 62 to 50 percent and only sank 59% from the free throw line...i really think fiba should change the single elimination format for the semis and finals so fluke winners would be more far-fetched...best of three would make the americans probable winners in their recent losses in the international scene

They chose Biology as their major, and then had no problem getting into their chosen pharmacy programs. The easiest way to prove that we are the best basketball state in all of America is to look at the three teams in the sweet 16, and the fact that all of them will make it to the elite eight. Then we'll have 3 teams in the top 8.

The SEC is the best conference incollegesports, football and basketball. None of you Pac10 rejects can say otherwise. Even in recruiting we have 7 of the top 10 teams in football.

it is definitely north carolina, indiana, and kentucky BY FAR.

i was also born in florida and florida is a FOOTBALL state, anyone who lives there knows that. the talent that comes out of Fla in football is unreal and look at the 3 big schools there. sure the heat and gators won it all, but basketball will always be second in florida, so that argument isnt even close to valid.

to the guy that said life in knoxville is great, i hope you just mean because the vols are in the sweet sixteen. sure thecollegelife was fun there, but outside of the school there are less girls here than anywhere. and 90% of the hotties at UT are stuck up soriority girls. wow, the sec schools tower over other schools as far as hot girls though!

One good year and they are the best b-ball state, haha. i saw his top contributor thing.....however it is for politics. stick to that. but im pulling for the vols i hope we can keep overachieving. all 3 of these teams have overachieved this year by the way. they are good teams, but memphis hasnt played anybody....UT plays better than they are, and Vandy is just a solid, experienced team, nothing special. Lofton is unreal though, without him we wouldnt have won 15 games this year.

It never fails that we see North Carolina, Duke, NC State, Kentucky etc in the NCAA Tourney's but with this years sweet 16 the only one of the above that remain is the heels. Tennessee basketball in the past has been a thing that has caused me much agony during the season, it is good to finally have not one but THREE teams in the sweet 16 good luck to all three, Memphis, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt!!!

College Basketball is great?

listen i hate Duke as much as anyone but i would like to see them make a great run in this tournament so it can prove my point i have been telling people all along. That the ACC is the best and hardest conference to play in. All year long i have heard that the Pac 10 is so great and that all the teams will make good runs in the NCAA tournament. Well what happens 3 of the teams got knocked out in the 1st round. Which leaves 3 teams still remaining in the tournament which is as much as the ACC teams have playing in the second day but with only 4 bids. So when are people going to admit that the PAC 10 is an overrated conference.

Talk about over-rated why is Duke a #2 seed??? They should have lost to Belmont and are in trouble again today? A deep run in the tournament? They aren't making it out of the West- and should they be lucky enough to make it to the Elite Eight to face UCLA- they'll be in trouble.

only one team out of our eight lost, and that was in double overtime. villanova beat clemson, who is one of the best in the acc. Long story short, big east is the best.
